The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) was established in 1978 as a nonprofit agency to own and operate the city's aviation system,McGhee Tyson Airport andDowntown Island Airport,and has recently celebrated a full 85 years in service to the East Tennessee area. The Position:

The purpose of our Facility Maintenance Technician position is to perform routine daily maintenance and repair of airport facilities and equipment. Our technicians monitor, inspect, and troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and carpentry issues and report discrepancies, and ensure timely repairs to minimize the impact on airport tenants, as well as the traveling public. *This position will require on-call support.

Responsibilities:

• Performs basic repairs and preventative maintenance, requiring electrical, carpentry, painting, and plumbing skills.
• Performs visual inspections throughout the terminal, concourse, stairwells, and bathrooms.
• Maintains cleanliness and workability of shop area.
• Maintains parts supply inventory.
• Assists with maintaining Airport Certification Manual.
• Ensures compliance with FAR Part 139 requirements.
• This position will require on-call support.
• Performs related work as required.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this position should have general knowledge of modern office practices and equipment, including applicable software; safety procedures and protocols; general electrical, carpentry, painting, and plumbing; construction methods and materials; and FAR FAA Part 139 and Part 77 regulations. This candidate must be able to speak and write clearly, be well-organized and manage time wisely, be able to troubleshoot and make needed repairs, perform a visual inspection of the buildings, and identify any issues or damage, maintain accurate inspection records, maintain an inventory of supplies, can use hand/power tools, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 3-5 years' experience in framing and drywall; six-months/one-year of advanced study in a skilled trade, and less than 1-year of experience in plumbing and electrical.

Salary and Compensation:

The hiring range for this position is $39,108.35 to $50,840.86. MKAA offers a very competitive benefits package for this position, including medical/dental/vision benefits, disability/life insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, 401(a)-retirement program.
